Stand-Up comedy meets Shakespeare in this side-splitting one-woman comedic odyssey. That is the Question takes us on a journey of crisis and reinvention through the apocalypse, with the always-relevant Shakespeare as spirit-guide.  Annie calls upon some of the Bard's best known works, connecting humanity's past with our political present. Titania lambasts us for our destruction of the environment, Shylock shames us for our othering of refugees and Constance offers up her grief to those whose children were victims of gun violence. The show is not without light, or, as Annie states: “In the face of hopelessness, love is a rebellious act.” Join us for a night of laughter laced with deep honesty about where we are, how we got here, and how our hearts can possibly keep going.

Annie, who’s theater company Annie’s Shakespeare Shakedown, centered around immersive and environmental productions, struggled to produce this way after covid. After falling back in love with Stand-Up, she said; why not both! And thus That is the Question was born.  Stand-Up with a side of Shakespearean Truth-Bombs and strong Hannah Gadsby vibes.

Annie’s Shakespeare Shakedown presents “That is the Question” a new work written & performed by Annie Lightbody and Directed by Melanie S. Amer.
